Masterpiece 2018
The Jonathan Cooper Gallery will be showing 'Headway I' on their stand at this years Masterpiece.
The Jonathan Cooper Gallery - 30 years
The Jonathan Cooper Gallery will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this summer. I have been with the gallery since 1997 and wish Jonathan continuing success for the next 30 years! There will be a special exhibition from 12th - 21st July and a nice catalogue to go with it. I shall be showing one work along with the rest of the gallery artists.
Instagram
I am enjoying my new Instagram account. It has been something of a revelation to see what fellow artists are doing in real time around the world. It has also given me some light relief from my rather insular lifestyle. It's nice to be able to show the world what I'm doing without letting the world actually into my studio.

The Sporting Art Auction 2017, Kentucky USA
Two paintings of mine were sold at the Sporting Art Auction last year.
This was the second time I have had painting included in the Sporting Art Auction, the only one of its kind in the USA and I was very pleased to be a part of it. Many thanks once again to Greg Ladd of the Cross Gate Gallery, Kentucky for inviting me.

Studio update
The studio has been up and running since May this year. I am greatly appreciating the bigger space. Though of course a bigger space means more space to heat... The wood burner has been working overtime! There is still much to do before I can hold a small exhibition - the mezzanine balustrade consists of a long length of 4x4inch timber... Victorian choir rood screen to be added soon. A decent picture hanging system is needed also. A small kitchen... a new carpet...
Royal Tour of Oman, UAE and Bahrain

I was in the middle east for a week as tour artist for HRH The Prince of Wales, returning on the 11th November. This was my second tour as artist (for my first see India 2003) and they are always amazing experiences, albeit quite exhausting. My available time for sketching and painting was typically limited but I have enough material together with a decent variety of photos, to hopefully work up into a small collection of paintings. Fresh in my memory is the wonderful old mountain village of Misfat al-Abryeen, the haunting twilight of the desert wadi and nature reserve of Ras al Shajar in Oman. The old dhow shipyard in Bahrain has given me many ideas with the huge teak and oak spas and planks like some vast golden and ancient behemoth, being assembled by hand just as they have done for a millennia. The beautiful pure-blood Arab thoroughbreds of Bahrain with their manes and tails uncut I’m hoping to produce something rather tasty on canvas - if I can do their grace and poise the credit they deserve. Not quite as strong as the mixed-blood racing thoroughbreds here, they have a magic and beauty all of their own.

Not forgetting the camels of course. Watch this space for painting updates.

Old man, Dubai
The new studio is looking good. Estimated completion in the New Year of 2017. Open days and exhibitions tba. Very cold in there at the moment as the woodburner is sitting in the corner awaiting a flue...
